- Art and Art History for Grades 4-12
Course Description: Students will learn about the historical period through lecture, discussion, and note taking. They will learn about styles of art and produce art in those styles. Students will gain an understanding of the process of art and build their artistic and design skills.

- Art with a Geography Theme for Grades K-6
Course Description: The purpose of this class is to help students discover and express their individual creativity while learning basic art skills in a geography setting. The students will use a variety of tools and media and design art objects from readily available materials. Emphasis will be on the enjoyment of the creative process and an appreciation a variety of art expressions, as well as reinforcing the geography theme of each project.

- Computer Art for Grades K-4
Course Description: This course will give the students a firm understanding of the basics involved in creating art with the computer. They will insert pictures in Microsoft Word and create them in Microsoft Paint. They will also learn to use clipart and create movies in Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will learn how to draw straight lines; free-form lines; curves; circles; squares; and polygons. Students will work with text and color. Some keyboarding/typing skills are recommended. However, even a first-time computer user will benefit tremendously from this class!

- Computer Operations for Grades 4-12
Course Description: This course will give the students a firm understanding of the basics involved in creating and editing files, inserting pictures, and organizing documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They will also become familiar with the relationship between the Internet and web pages and how they contribute to and influence modern society. Some keyboarding/typing skills are recommended.

- Fun with Science Grades K-2
Course Description: Through class discussions, investigation, and experimentation, students will learn about the physical, life, and earth sciences. The teacher will lead the students in conducting hands-on activities and experiments to help them understand the scientific processes involved in their explorations. Students will explore science concepts using hands-on activities that encourage difference learning modalities.

- Hands-on Science for Grades 4-8
Course Description: This class will introduce physical, life, and earth science concepts using hands-on methods. The students will participate in discussions, take lecture notes, participate in class projects, and complete homework assignments.

- Introduction to Poetry: Grades 4-12
Course Description: This course will be an introduction to poetry: types, structures, rhythm, and vocabulary. Students will read and write a variety of poetry. In addition, they will illustrate and share their poems and bind the illustrated poems into a book.

- Keyboarding/Typing for Grades 3-12
Course Description: Students will learn to type using correct finger-to-key placement. Eventually, they will progress toward typing without looking at the keys and play typing games to increase their speed and accuracy. Students in the higher grade levels will also demonstrate and record their speed through taking timed typing tests. Students will use the fundamental features of the computer: keys, files, and word processing. Homework will include practicing the skills learned in each class session.

- Math Facts for Grades 3-6
Course Description: This class is for students learning to multiply numbers and to understand the inverse relationships between division and multiplication. Students will explore mathematics concepts using hands-on activities that encourage different learning modalities. Students will be evaluated based on class participation, teacher observation, and written homework.

- Social Studies for Grades 1-3
Course Description: This class is for first, second, and third grade students learning how extraordinary people have made contributions to society and affected differences for the lives of students today. They will also learn how local, regional and national government and traditions affect our society. Students will explore social studies/history concepts using hands-on activities that encourage difference learning modalities; read assignments; participate in discussions; and complete homework assignments.

Course Description: This class is for fourth and fifth grade students learning the story of their home state, California, and the development of the nation of the United States up to 1850. Students will explore social studies/history concepts using hands-on activities that encourage different learning modalities; read assignments; participate in discussions; and complete homework assignments.

- Social Studies for Grade 6: Ancient Civilizations
Course Description: This class was designed to help students to study studying the people and events that ushered in the dawn of the major Western and non-Western ancient civilizations. Students will explore social studies/history concepts (world history and geography) using hands-on activities that encourage different learning modalities; take lecture notes; read assignments; participate in discussions; complete homework assignments; and take exams.

- Thematic Arts and Crafts for Grades K-3
Course Description: The purpose of this class is to help students discover and express their individual creativity while learning basic art skills. The students will use a variety of tools and media and design art objects from readily available materials. Students will be introduced to craft-making in correspondence with literature that accompanies a chosen theme. New themes will be introduced on a weekly basis. Emphasis will be on the enjoyment of the creative process and an appreciation a variety of art expressions.

- Writing to the California Standards for Grades 4-5
Course Description: Students will write essays following the prescribed writing process. They will compose, read, and critique their works. Assignments will also prepare the 4th grade students for the writing section of the STAR test to be given in the spring.
